What's the big difference with essential oil companies?

Who thinks all oils are the same? 

Who thinks Young Living oils are too expensive? 

I certainly did when I first started using oils. I bought cheap oils at Whole Foods, Sprouts and made my own thieves oil because I thought they were all the same. I even took them internally since ya know--the label said 100% pure and natural (and said do not take internally--whoops).

Next, watch this video of the Young Living Tansy harvest. Yes, that is the owner of the company, D. Gary Young driving the tractors! Notice the cleanliness of the fields, distillery machinery? Notice that the harvested plant goes right from the field to the distilling machinery? Notice that the distillery machinery is made of medical grade stainless steel? Notice that the lab is taking samples of each batch to test to ensure that they're getting what they want out of the plant? They actually test each batch numerous times throughout the entire distillation process to ensure it's only the highest quality and purity. Notice that they also store the distilled oil in a medical grade stainless steel container?

I encourage you to see where other companies get their oils. Oh, that's right--no one else owns their own farms so they can't show you! Hmmmm...isn't that interesting?

IF you're lucky enough to find a company that says they source their own oils, how do they ensure that the farms are testing the dirt for RoundUp residue which is a possible cause of cancer? Are they testing for other pesticides and herbicides in the dirt? Are they ensuring there are no GMOs in their plants? What do they use as a pesticide? Young Living uses essential oils, neem oil and other natural pesticide remedies. What are they distilling their plants in? Is it medical grade stainless steel or an aluminum drum? I don't know about you, but I don't want the oils that are going onto my skin and into my body to have any by-products from aluminum! What are they storing the distilled oils in? Plastic jugs or stainless steel? I, for sure, don't want BPA leaching into my oils! You only know that is in your oils if you can follow it back to its source and follow it's progress from seed to bottle.

Here are some questions that you can ask essential oil companies to ensure you're using the most pure oils for your family:

Some other things to think about: Other companies say they get their oils from farm indigenous areas. Well, here's a question for ya---are you eating all of your food from indigenous areas? People are so concerned about their food these days--organic, certified organic, etc. Well, it's pretty rare to find food that is truly indigenous. Does it really matter where the plant is grown if they're not paying attention to the rest of the process?

Young Living has farms all over the world and is acquiring more farms as we speak! Young Living tests how the plants are growing in different areas of the world and only grows plants in areas where they do well. All of our future planned farms will have the same pristine, clean, process you saw in our video. Anyone can walk off the street and go visit any of our farms--do it--you'll walk away even more impressed.

Here's an example, just an example (sorry, I couldn't help myself & make a Cypress Hill reference)....Young Living couldn't find an excellent source of black spruce--the one ingredient in our much coveted Valor that led to it being out of stock for what seemed like forever. You know what they did? Well, first thing they did...well, I should say DIDN'T do, is accept less-than-excellent black spruce from multiple farms that offered it. They almost had a farm that tested "good" or "acceptable" but there were just a few constituents of the oil that didn't meet with Young Living's stringent standards so you know what Young Living did? You think they restocked Valor and made a crap ton of money because customers were getting angry and impatient that it had been out of stock and were waiting (not so patiently) to buy it? NO! They continued to search and kept Valor out of stock (except thank goodness in our Premium Starter Kits). And then when they couldn't find it, Young Living decided to BUY A FARM! You read that right---they BOUGHT A FARM!?!?!  Who does that?!? It's a beautiful farm up in Northern Canada that has acres and acres of high quality black spruce trees and enough room to plant more so that we will have a continuous supply of black spruce. They are currently building a distillery, a spa, an RV park and a visitor's center on the land. I mean, that's insane! No other oil company would do that! 

No other oil company invests in its own farms and its own distilleries to ensure the highest quality product. Other oil companies don't run out of stock (Young Living currently has quite a list of out of stock oils)--that's because they're willing to buy and use whatever quality oil just to make a buck. Young Living doesn't compromise on quality or purity and is willing to be out of stock for a time rather than put an inferior product on the market. The good thing is that they have almost 200+ oils to choose from so even with quite a few out of stock, there are other oils that can do similar things. I'm proud to be a part of this company and every time I hear stuff like this, every time I go visit a farm (seen three so far as of this original post but seven by the time I updated this post) and see the entire process, I am even more impressed.

I'm OBSESSED!

So...I haven't posted anything on my blog in quite a while because....I'm obsessed....seriously, day & night--OBSESSED!

What am I obsessed with? OILS people...yep! Essential oils! 

What?!?

I know, I know...sounds completely crazy, but I've gone a little crazy, I guess!

My first introduction into essential oils (EOs) was a few years ago. I heard about thieves oil and was impressed that the blend of oils in thieves oil had been around for centuries for supporting the immune system. I knew Young Living oils sold it & I wanted it, BUT when I saw how much it was ($44 for a 15 ml bottle), I thought...I can make my own for cheaper! So I looked online for the recipe & went to Sprouts, Jimbo's & Whole Foods to get the oils....mixed them up with a carrier oil and started using them in the hopes that we would all stay healthy throughout the winter. I'd use them on the our feet at bedtime to help support our immune systems. I'd even take a few drops internally every night. I wasn't THAT impressed with how it worked, but kept using it anyway.

Then, I ran across a FB post of a friend, who posted about Young Living oils and decided to look into it a little more. I really wanted the real thieves oil and thought I'd bite the bullet & pay $44 for the bottle if it would help keep my family healthy this winter. I had also had a few people I knew use doTerra oils, so I did my research there too. They have a blend that is very similar to thieves oil, but they call it a different name and have one different ingredient. So, being the kind of person that researches and researches (and then researches some more) before committing to things, I did just that.

What I found was very surprising! A quick comparison shows that doTerra carries 39 single essential oils, and 18 blends while Young Living carries 87 single oils and 70 blends and has been around for 20 years! I like having more options and having products from an established company with an excellent record...Young Living oils is the ONLY essential oil company that owns its own farms (in five different continents)! That means they know the quality of the seed, the dirt (no pesticides or residues of pesticides, herbicides or chemicals in their dirt), etc. They know how their ingredients are harvested and processed (they often have their own distillery with their own distilling machinery on site on the farm) AND their oils are first distillations, which means they're distilled ONCE and only once--leaving you with the purest form of essential oil. Quality is important to me as is purity...I did enough research to feel confident to make MY choice. Other people will happily choose other essential oil companies and that's fine with me!

I decided to go with Young Living. I wasn't planning on doing the business end of things...I'm busy enough with my hypnotherapy practice, my hypnobirthing classes, a family and already being involved in two MLMs--Juice Plus+ and Miessence certified organic products. The whole MLM thing just wasn't something that had been successful for me....or so I thought!

But...then, a funny thing happened! I joined an awesome FB group that discusses essential oils uses...I became addicted to reading the multitude of posts to learn more about all of the amazing things essential oils has helped people with. I couldn't believe it! I wanted all of the oils so I could completely support my health and wellness with essential oils. I was hooked, so signed on as a distributor. (sucker...you might say)

I purchased the Premium Starter Kit which comes with the 9 oils listed above along with Stress Away, Joy and a FREE cold-mist diffuser/humidifier. I couldn't wait for it to come! Well, in my first month of using Young Living oils, I used almost every oil in my kit and ran out of thieves, peppermint, lemon, and lavender! (time to reorder!) These oils really worked!

But, let's talk now about how Young Living oils is changing my life in a way I had never imagined!

So, when I started with Young Living in the middle of October, I figured I'd give the business end of things a go. The way that the Lemon Droppers Young Living team had everything broken down in a really easy-to-understand way made the whole MLM thing seem do-able & not pyramid-scheme-y. So, I posted a picture of my new oil kit with my awesome diffuser on my FB page & got some interest and signed up two of my friends.

So, at the end of October 2013, I had 2 people that signed up (bought the awesome kit that I did).  My commission check covered my oil order. I thought that was pretty cool for just signing up myself & two other people. I figured,"Ok, I'll give this whole business thing a whirl! If I can make some extra money for my family, it's worth giving it a go!" Ha ha....the Universe is so wise...just wait til you see what happened!

November came & I continued to post a few things about how the oils were helping me & my family with so many issues. Well, by the end of November, I had signed up 18 people and my commission check for November was about half of what I made teaching HypnoBirthing classes. By the end of the month, I had 55 people on my team because people I signed up had also signed up people. There was also a contest that Young Living was offering--Drive to Win--a car & a trip to Hawaii. It had started in August, so I figured I had no chance of even qualifying for the top 60 since I had just started in October. By the end of the month, I was on the leaderboard for the top 300 fastest growing teams in the entire Young Living  organization! I decided I was going to buckle-down & do my best to get to the top 60 so I could win a trip to Hawaii.

December was busy! I was the busiest I had ever been with my hypnotherapy practice. I had HypnoBirthing classes. I was dealing with the holidays & getting everything ready for that. I was still grieving my Dad's death.  I wasn't sure how I was going to do it all and if it was even possible to do as well as I had in November. I kind of figured that December was going to be slower because everyone was saving or spending their money on presents. But...again, the Universe had different plans for me. I had 15 sign ups that month and my team did amazingly well! By the end of December, I had 109 people on my team AND I made it to 55th place in the Hawaii contest--meaning I had the 55th fastest growing Young Living business in the entire Young Living organization (WHAT?!? Didn't I just start this whole thing in October?!?)--but even more importantly, I had won the hotel accommodations for a 5 day/4 night trip to Kona, Hawaii in February! My commission check for December was enough to pay for three round trip tickets to the Big Island of Hawaii! Unbelievable! That meant that my family could join me on this amazing trip! AND I had done so well this month, that I made it to Silver level in the business (something that Young Living says usually takes people about a year to achieve). Because I did it so fast, I earned an Aroma Complete essential oils kit worth over $2500! I am now stalking my email inbox waiting for the email letting me know it's on its way. 

It's now late in January. My team is now up to 179 people and my team & I have already reached a total sales goal higher than I had anticipated. And the month isn't even over yet!

I'm SO thankful I took the plunge into the Young Living business and am even more thankful that I found the amazing Lemon Dropper team, who have made this business format so successful for me and all of the people on my team. We truly help each other out & build each other up! I'm so grateful for everything that I've been able to accomplish so far & look forward to what my team & I are able to accomplish this year!
